Got it in late February at the Repticon Show in Orlando from WOW Reptiles. I've been looking for months and when I saw it and had to have it! Sold as a CBB sorong type, though I'm not sure if it's correct. Housed in a 10 gallon aquarium (with plexiglass top). Using fake plants, coconut husk substrate and fake brunches. 5.0 UVA light and 60-watt night light on 12 hour cycle. Misted twice daily. Hasn't eaten yet but trying every 3 days as it becomes active at night. Also found mites today :-( Quaratined from other snakes (BRB and 2 Dumeril's). Starting Provent-a-mite ASAP. Any comments/suggestions definitely welcome.

The 60 watt might be enough, but with glass tanks it's hard to keep the temps up unless your room is very warm. I'd have a fecal done on it when you can since you already have a mite problem. Who knows what else is going on? Looks like a nice baby though. It will definitely be the first of many...trust me! BTW...if it's not eating, I'd avoid handling it and I'd wait until 5 days between feeding so that it doesn't get to used to not eating. You might try offering at a different time also. It seems like it's the only room that doesn't really cool that much at night. I've got a total of 4 nite lites going for the other herps. I'll keep an eye on the coconut husks. In fact, I'll probably switch over to something else as I do the mite cleaning. Thanks for the advice on trying different feeding times. I'll definitely give it a shot. Thanks for the words of encouragement!!

Mites can easily hide in substrate...Paper towels make the little buggers more visible. Be careful with provent a mite and use it only as directed.....It can be deadly to your snakes. Change to white paper towels and be very careful with the treatment. I've seen a couple of people kill juvie chondros with very little treatment done. My first suggestion would be to eliminate the coconut substrate and thoroughly rinse the chondro. You can usually rinse a lot of mites down the drain.......but best to do outside if the weather is warm enough. BTW, nice looking critter. Good luck. Brandon Osborne

Turns out it's imported, not CBB as I was told. This certainly explains why it's still not eating (32 days since I've had it and who only knows how long before that, has not deficated since I've had it) and the mites. Though they claim that it had to have been a misunderstanding, I specifically asked, before I purchased it, whether it was farmed or not and was told that "these are from a friend's breeding program". I guess he's got friends in Indonesia... Since I can't have a fecal done (no eating, no feces) should I take it in for bloodwork to check for parasites?

Definitely take it in for a vets test and see to it that it gets a work up. Not cheap but it could save you time and money down the line. Angel Chondros are next to godliness!!
