Hi Jack and welcome to the forum! You'll be pretty safe purchasing from people who post in our classifieds (only CBB allowed). You can also check the Morelia viridis forum's classifieds but just be aware that people are allowed to post chondros that aren't CBB. It should be clear from the ad and you can always contact the person to ask more questions. If they aren't open and easy to work with than go with someone else. You're doing the right thing by purchasing your first chondros from a breeder. They really will be able to help you out with getting started on the right foot. If you're going to be at the Anaheim show, Cathy Maynard may be able to hook you up. I know she's got eggs in the incubator and usually attends the show. She may not be selling there but she is an excellent contact.

For a yellow neonate you're looking anywhere from $350 on up depending on bloodlines for CBB babies from a breeder. Your non-designer chondros will be on the lower end of the scale but don't let that fool you into thinking they aren't beauties in their own right. You might be able to find some maroon neonates starting in the $600 range but they are usually $750+, even for the non-designers. I don't think I've heard what Cathy is thinking of selling her for. She has some really nice bloodlines.
