Kim, I'm watching this thread too.... I wish I had enough experience to add something helpful but am taking your experience as a learning one for me too.

Nothing!
A few days ago I put her high perch back in her cage but she opted not to come out of her nest box. I took her out and checked on her yesterday and she still seems fine. She didn't go back into her box when I replaced her back in the cage but she's now basking again and hasn't returned to the nest box. I left it with my vet that I'd give her until the end of the month and we'd come in for an ultrasound. Ever heard of a false pregnancy in chondros? If the ultrasound doesn't show anything I'll be pretty stumped as to why she hasn't gone back on food. |

I have had no less than 3 false pregnancies with Minnie. I wish I were better organized, I have photos of how blue she turned, and then six months later, how green she was, and she has never laid for me. I got her in 2002 I think it was, and every year outside of the first she did this. Feb 2004

Interesting! I do recall you talking about this with Minnie. Do you think that she actually went through ovulation and then reabsorbed the ova? How long did
she go on thinking she was pregnant (ie. basking and not eating)? I'll give Sissy a try feeding this weekend but I'm expecting another grumpy hiss and
a turn away.

I don't recall the times and such, she'd be off feed for a couple/few months, and then bam! right back on like she never stopped.
She never had a full blown ovulation like I like to see, so she might have some issue with not being able to fertilize the follicles and shell them into ova or however that whole step works. She's frustrating, but Marc Spataro's got her now, and she's going through all of this again. I'm hoping the car ride over there shook her loose, or maybe the change of scenery helps. She's a very confusing animal.

Still nothing from Sissy, however, she's come out of the nest box and has perched again. She's no longer basking or acting gravid. My plan: Soak her
for several hours again because the shed is looking dry and completely disinfect her cage. I'm wondering if smell as well as screwed up hormones is
causing her to continue to act gravid. I removed her nest box and I've palpated her yet again and I've felt nothing. I unexpectedly had to leave town
this week and wasn't able to get her ultrasound booked but I'm leaning towards continuing to hold off as long as she's acting normal (other than
not going back on food yet).
Would you all go ahead and ultrasound just in case or wait it out as long as she doesn't seem in distress? |

Kim,
Sorry I did not respond very quickly I would go with the ultra sound. It will at least answer the question of whether she has eggs inside or is empty. Best of luck with her! Please keep us posted!

Well, I have continued to hold off on the ultrasound because she went into shed. The good news is that she shed last night and looks 110% better since her
last stuck shed. She seems much happier and actually looked like she wanted a meal. I'm going to give her a try tonight on food. She's looking very
much like her normal self again. I'm going to talk it over with my vet on Monday and I'll let you know how it goes if I go in for the ultrasound.
So, no eggs but it looks like I've got my healthy girl back!
