I think you're pretty safe if you do a search of our classifieds and go with breeders there or on the Morelia Viridis Forum's classifieds. My suggestion would be to stay away from kingsnake ads or people that can't provide background information on the snakes. A good breeder will be open and honest with you and tell you as much as they can about the snake you're interested in purchasing. They will be there afterwards with followup support as needed and be easy to communicate with. I have a few offspring available but there are many more trusted breeders out there that usually have their babies publicly available including Rico Walder, Brandon Osborne, Rich Culver, Michael Hance, Aaron Florian, and the list goes on (I know I left some great breeders out - so forgive me!).

I would say purchase a few yearlings and neonates to get a feel for how different their feeding habits and personalities can be. Chondros come in so many colors and you can't always predict how offspring will turn out from a pair so purchase the ones you like the looks of. I would try and purchase chondros from different bloodlines but there's certainly nothing wrong with buying sublings from a hot chondro pair. Just a word of warning (because these guys are addictive!) - I wouldn't jump in and buy a boat load of chondros to start a breeding colony until you have a little bit a husbandry experience under your belt. On average, I'd say most people don't breed until they kept chondros for a few years.
