Hello Everyone,
I was wondering what you guys use as a back drop for your chondro photos? What is an easy way to set up a little studio? Thanks, Nick |

A colored (black) tarp will work (cloth), and a number of lights around that box .. although in summer, I prefer to take shots of chondros in front of flowers, trees, or the sky as a backdrop.
I don't have a lightbox yet, so I'm still basically taking chondros in front of things i think would look neat as backgrounds. I have a wall in my basement that is dark blue, and it shows up black when I'm taking flash photos. They're quick and dirty, but thats how i like it... no long setup time or taking up space.  Then again, I've been accused of being lazy too.Damon had plans at some point, you might be able to find them somewhere. |

The easiest studio set up I've come up with is to mount one of my flash lights inside of a Wescott Halo (a really nice lighting umbrella that was designed for wedding photographers and which can produce very nice, even, illumination over the subject). Occasionally I'll use a small, circular, reflector with it (for fill-light) depending on the size of the subject, etc. If I'm doing macro work I use my trusty Olympus macro flashes that mount right off the front of my macro lens. This method eliminates the need for a light box (or light tent, as they are sometimes called). Stu |
