I have a young GTP that was born on Thanksgiving day. I purchased him (about 10 days ago) housed in a small terririum from a new reptile store in town (I know, not good). He was supposively bread here in Florida. I have read quite a bit about them and keeping the temps in the acceptable range and misting him very lightly daily.
He appears very healthy and is happy basking under the light on the drift wood or in a plant by day and spends the night exploring or what appears to be trying to get out the top (is this normal?). He looks perfactly healththy (from what I can tell) with a clean face and nose and is not thin (yet)
He will not eat. I have been trying for about 4 days now and He will not strike at all either thawed or live pinkys. I try have tried feeding him using tongs for about 10 mintes every other day both AM and PM and give up when he tries to run away. He will look at the pinky and smell it but no strikes. I have a live pinky on a dish on the bottom tonight and have tried this one other time with no luck.
I was considering moving him to a plastic shoe box (as described in my readings) but do not want to stress the animal any futher if this is not necessary.
Any ideas on getting this little guy to feed? Am I not being agressive enough with the feeding attempts?
Thanks for the help.
