Any ideas on how to get perches to stick properly to a glass tank, or an acrylic tank? I have bamboo sticks that Im going to cut down to size.. but I am lost to how the bamboo are going to stay perched in the tank.. while being able to hold an adult if necessary.. anyone please? thanks |

I've used the plastic closet bar holders - you can find them at Home Depot or Lowe's- you can screw them into acrylic or use the double sided adhesive
3M products to stick to the glass...

I use those plastic bar holders and they do work well. I haven't had much luck getting them to stick using 3M-type adhesive over time, however. I might
give that gorilla glue stuff a try. I have had good success with it holding plastic to plastic. It might work well on glass...

Hey Guys, I don't like to interrupt in people's conversations but I'm seeing a soon to happen problem and it has nothing to do with perch hooks.I
try to not suggest too often, me being a fairly new keeper and all but I do read a lot in the forum and I recall seeing a topic about bamboo perches not being
to safe because of mold and fungus. And seeing that you mention bamboo makes me think that you haven't seen that particular topic. I can't tell you
where about is this topic because it was some time ago I saw it, but I would highly suggest that you check first if bamboo is safe for your snake's before
you use it as perches. I'm sorry if I sound out of place and I'm not trying to tell you what to do, but I think that the mayor concern here is your
pet's. Just a friendly advice.

Why would bamboo be any different from any other natural wood? I use regular wood branches in my cages, and never have had mold in any of them. The cages dry
out overnight and thru the day, so the wood doesn't sit in water 24/7. Is bamboo more susceptable than other woods? I'd find that hard to believe as
they are commonly found in areas of high humidity. Is it because they are hollow or something?

I recall the conversation about mold on bamboo as well. Several people said they had problems with it. Bamboo isn't the same as real wood but I honestly
can't explain why it is more susceptible to mold than real wood.

Bamboo will grow mold at an enormous rate if not sealed. I used a couple of small pieces in some displays that grew mold overnight with very little humidity.
I would say it's very different than "regular" wood.
