Chris the ideal thing is for them to pip them selves but as long as you know you temp monitoring equipment is
accurate and consistent.
You would be fine pipping either on day 49 late in the evening prior to heading off to bed or day 50.
One thing to watch for are scratch marks on the eggs, where a neonate is or has tried to pip.
If you see the later pip the clutch.
