Sissy is laying eggs as I type! I'm so relieved that she's not blocked up from having a bunch of retained eggs. Not surprisingly, it looks like
it's mostly slugs. I'm disappointed but I'm glad she's going to be okay. Thanks for all the input everyone has given me on this situation.

Well, it wasn't a complete bust. She laid 17 eggs, mostly duds. I didn't have my normal camera around to take good pictures of her laying:
The good news for now is that two of the 17 eggs appear to have very weak veins but obvious embryos. I put them in the incubator: The lack of calcification on the smaller egg is impressive. From the shape and the color I never expected to see veins and an embryo. Anyone had one hatch
from an egg that looked like this?

Also forgot to ask what kindof incubator setup are you using? The cooler one no substrate/tubs???

Yep, that's a cooler set up using no substrate. I've had good sucess with this method with my first two clutches so I've continued to stick with it. Damon (www.albinochondro.com) has an excellent article on how he sets his up. Mine is not that fancy but it's the same idea. |
