I doubt my digital camera has a white balance setting, but I may be wrong. I read the instructions cover to cover and don't recall seeing anything about that. I'll check again.

I enjoy stepping out of the full auto world with my SLR film camera, but it doesn't give me the instant feedback that digital offers. There's the trip to Wal-Mart for development, not to mention buying the film to begin with, and a few days or weeks after taking the shot, I learn how badly I botched it! Then I misplace my notes or they're unclear or the pictures are out of order, so when I'm looking at the developed pictures I can't figure out what settings I tried for each shot.

One day I'll get myself a digital SLR, then I'll be in business. Until then I'll just have to learn to live with what I've got. I did figure out that I get different results between (a) being in full auto mode, hitting the macro button, and shooting; and (b) going to "special modes" mode and selecting "macro." Should be the same thing, right? Both result in a blue flower icon in the upper left hand corner of the screen. But option (b) focuses on the desired object, whereas option (a) tries to but fails. Weird.

Edit: CORRECTION: My camera does have white balance control and a few other features I was not aware of. Thanks for the heads up, Kim, I'll give it a try.
