Power outage effecting eggs!?

My eggs, that are due to hatch February 26th, dropped to 64 degrees. I think the power went out around midnight to 3am, and I awoke at 6:45 am. I immediately took them to my parents house which was 2 miles away. By the time they were plugged back in it was 62 degrees in the nest box. they were heated back to 87 within a few hours. Does anyone have any good words from experience that this will not hurt them? I have often wondered if there is a way to set an alarm that would alert us in the middle of the night if the power goes out while we're incubating eggs. I really need to look into this because it would help me sleep easier at night. I had the power go out two or three times during my last incubation but I don't think my temps varied more than about 10 degrees in a couple of hours. I was home for the worst power outage and ended up turning the generator on to get the temps back up. I did lose a few eggs in that clutch but I don't think the temps were the problem. I live in an area that has outages and brown outs regularly. I have a back up generator for my house. One problem is that is doesn't start automatically, so unless I am home to turn it on things can go bad quickly. The nature of my job has me away from home 24-48 hours at a time once or twice a week. I have my incubator on a battery back up that automatically turns on during an outage or makes up the difference in voltage in the event of brown out. It is a UPS that people use for their computers during a power failure. I have an APC 1300va 780watts XS Series. I purchased it at a Staples Store for $137.00. This backup will run my incubator for at least 6 hours. It can also be used to power an incubator in a vehicle. Buddy B

Anyway, I did a Google search on "power outage alarms" and a bunch of hits came up. There's something out there, but it will take more research to identify the best bang for the buck. I finally went ahead and peeled off the one infertile egg as it was getting far too moldy and it was starting to look like it might be traveling to the others. Once it was gone though, the others cleaned off real well. A few of the eggs that are single are really swelled up and feel real firm, but the ones in the clumps that are on top of the egg masses seem to not be as plump, some with little indentions in them. I am assuming this is due to the single eggs being able to retain more moisture and the ones on top of the egg masses not being able to absorb as much water. Either way, I am hoping the power issue will not effect them, and I have my hopes high on these eggs. It's my first group of eggs, so I am really excited.
