Can anybody tell me the answer please, Ive seen loads of mating, throughout most of November & December 07 and a shed on the 26th, she ate a regular meal
on the 27th, then a swelling occured on the 3rd January 08, and she went off her food for a few weeks, and started eating again on the 27th Jan 08, but is
still huge and looks gravid. Can anyone explain this please ?

Has she defecated lately? During the early stages of follicle development, females can slowly go off food while still acting like they're hungry. In my
experience, once you really start to see a female looking plump (from developing follicles, not poo), she won't touch food again until after she's been
pulled off eggs or has finished incubation. A chondro isn't gravid until after she ovulates.

She is defecating regularly, every friday night as she always has, nothing has changed there, but she seems to be getting bigger all the time, she only took
two medium mice yesterday, where she will normaly. pack down four large mice or 2 small rats. She looks huge, and i cant understand it, bare in mind this is my
first year at trying to breed them. Thanks for your input and any furthur info would be appreceated

She could definitely be developing follicles if you are starting to see a decline in her food interest. I have one chow hound of a female who will start to be
reluctant about food but still eat and then strike, coil, and drop as she gets closer to going off food. For several weeks she'll continue to beg for food
but will finally refuse to take it. It is possible this is what you're starting to see. Is the male still showing interest in her? I hope she's
heading the right direction for you.
By the way, I've never had an adult defecate weekly. Lucky you! |

They are now four years old and from the Jayapura region of the mainland, I will check later to see if the male is still interested, I work odd shifts so this
is not always possible, I feed every Sunday evening and by Friday evening there will be a poo in the viv. The only time I havent seen this is when they are due
to shed, then they miss that friday and drop loads on the night of the shed. My male is very agressive where my female is fairly passive and u can work around
her in the viv, however her temprement has changed of late and she has become jumpy and should I say nervous ? Yet she doesny seem to be seeking for the
basking spot.
