After a while keeping royals and then Cooks (just trying to get babies to feed now) Ive finally plucked courage to work with a Chondro. She (or so Im told) is beautiful. The guy wanted a Biak as he thought they would be easier to feed. Listening to him I think he pestered the snake to eat all the time and handled her constantly. Im going to leaver her in peace for a few weeks with hot spot of 84 and humidity starting at 90-100% and dropping to 65%. Any one have any other tips for me to get her feeding regularly? She is supposed to be captive bred and eating defrosts although she has a few nick like scars which might indicate a live feed or two at some stage. Any advice will be welcome! Ill post some pics as soon as I work out the photo bucket thing. lol Thanks Stephen P.S. I have a friend who has probed hundreds of snakes in her time but does not like to do carpet pythons. How risky is probing a chondro? She is in her third year now (about three foot). I dont want to worry too much about the feeding if she is infact a he.

Snakes younger than 1 year of age is risky, but we are talking about a 3 year old snake so that makes a huge difference. -Angel Chondros are next to godliness!!

I only found out today that he had traded his sarong for a juvenile biak with a pet shop owner who im presuming may be you. I think it a little unfair to be shooting down his husbandry techniques without first having seen how his snakes are kept. In other words outstandingly! For a young lad of 22, Adam is very knowledgable and even helped me to solve my own chondros feeding issues. I can say hand on heart that none of his snakes will have ever seen a live mouse. He feeds defrost or persists until they do take defrost. Since aquiring the biak he has also now added a pair of merauke chondros to the collection. Il see if i can get him to post on here and share some pics of some of his setups. They make you go a chondro type green with envy.

Its always difficult to know if people are telling the truth and you will notice that I did say that she has aquired scars at some stage (I know that Adam had only had the snake for a short while). As for shooting down his husbandry im not really sure what you mean apart from trying to get the animal to feed. His temperatures and humidty all seemed fine to me and I have emulated the same in order to help her settle in. I will look forward to seeing the pics of his set ups; they sounded very impressive. The biak I traded with him is doing well, It fed the day after he got it and he text me to let me know how happy he was with it. Im sorry if I caused offense. Stephen

I know try as he may he just could not get a feeding response from her so i really hope you will have better luck. And your right he is over the moon with the biak. I knew he had some new snakes to show me as soon as i saw the beeming smile on his face. Still wouldnt let me keep one of the meraukes though. Tight git. lol

My 2 year old is longer than that and she's a Sorong too. Leaving your animal alone for a bit to get aclimated is probably a good idea.
