And this is Eva, a High White/Blue Aru 5yr old female
Hopefully eggs will be on the ground shortly, I've decided to let her do her thing even though this is her first time around.
Stay tuned for updates!!!

Have you seen copulation or ovulation? From the looks of it, she doesn't appear gravid. Typically females will stop feeding around 30 days prior to ovulation. Fasting usually last until eggs have hatched, or they are pulled off the clutch. This can range from 80-150 days.
What temps did you use during cycling? How long? I'm not trying to burst your bubble here. It's still early and you still have plenty of time. I'm wishing you luck because there's nothing like hatching you own baby chondros. Brandon Osborne One thing I forgot is, Aru types are most know for turning VERY blue while gravid. |

All of those pics were 4-5months old, Heres some new ones that i took last night.
I was only able to check on these guys once a week or so for about two months so i never actually witnessed any ovulation. I did however see them with there tails intertwined afew days after i first introduced the male to her cage, no actual inserted hemipenes but it was close. For the last 2-3months I've been keeping there cage at 78-74 deg. over the last two weeks I've moved it back up to 84-80. I've had alot of gravid snakes in the past and just by the feel of her I'd say that theres something cooking in there. |

I love that first picture in your last post where the male looks like he's peaking over the top of her coils. That's funny!
Were you keeping your cages that cool 24 hrs a day? Usually, temps drops only occur at night and heat back up to normal temps during the day. Is your female off food now? If you didn't witness an ovulation maybe you're now starting to see the start of follicle development. She does look plump. Usually, but not always, there's a shift in color and sometimes attitude as follicles start to develop. The picture you posted of her back end looks like a defecation waiting to happen but hopefully I'm wrong. Keep us posted. |

Ya Buster was out and about last night, probably wanted to know why i was messing with his girlfriend. He's psycho, Eva is just a big green baby, hopefully that doesnt change a bit.
The set-up that i have right now is an arboreal Neodesha with a Helix DBS1000 which i had set at 78, the heating element is a ceramic heat emitter. The temp probe is located on the wall of the cage below the first perch, the middle of the perch wouldve been alittle warmer than 78. The room temp is usually around 74 or so. When i had them off feed and at the cooler temps they'd always be at the bottom of the cage away from the heat. During this cooling period neither was offered food, thanks to the great live rat shortage of 07', lol! She hadnt ate until two days ago for atleast two months, and she always defacats normally, When i feel back there and let her body hang vertically i think i can see/feel the follicles but im not 100% certain, Im going to have a local guy thats bred chondros quit afew times come over and see what he thinks. The Helix been moved back up to 84 and they both seem to be liking it, now that they have a little rat in their bellies. Corey Greene |

Do you have Greg Maxwell's book "The More Complete Chondro"? If not, I'd highly recommend it. You can also take a look at his web site on breeding:
Intro to Chondro Breeding The temps drops as only supposed to be at night. You want to continue feeding the female while the male is in with her. You can do this if the day time temps are back up where they're supposed to be because she can still bask and digest. If she becomes gravid you'll want her to be well fed as she'll be off food for a long period of time. I'm sorry to be the bearer of bad news but if she's eating now, she is not gravid. Follicle development occurs in the ovaries and you wouldn't be able to feel anything but you'd see obvious swelling. When she ovulates, her ovaries are releasing the ripe follicles (ova - or unshelled eggs) into the oviducts. This is when the eggs can be fertilized and shelled and when you might be able to feel something. Unfortunately, what you're feeling now is probably a defecation. My recommendation would be to separate them and cycle them again by dropping temps to around 68F at night and up to mid-80's day time. Don't suddenly drop your temps but do it over a period of a few weeks. Put them back together in a few weeks (while continuing this same cycle) and see what happens. Good luck! |

Awesome!! That has got to be one of the tighest beehives I've never seen! I can't wait to see pictures of the little heads popping out from around
her coils in about 49 days. Happy waiting.
