I had thought that the appetite "stimulation" was actually because the Flagyl removed the unicellular gastro parasites that were causing pathology. In other words, that the appetite wasn't stimulated, but rather the origin of the anorexia was removed.

I cut up a small portion of a tablet into VERY fine pieces, then dab the prey item into those pieces. "Coating" it if you will.

Once is normally all it takes in my experience to see a quick feeding response difference.
