I have two Aru's that I paired up in Feb. They copulated thru the first week of march. I am sure she got to the point of developing follicles. However, I had an unfortunate outbreak of mites when my kids brought in a wild Iguana. I treated for the mites and I thought she reabsorbed the follicles as I never saw her ovulate. She shed on April 12 and now is going into shed again on June 14. I have been told that they will shed pre-ovulation and pre-egg lay. She seems to have solid lumps...

Sounds wonderful Greg. I just about have the first book memorized by now I think(LOL). You are responsible for turning me into a Chondroholic. I now have seven of them. By the way, the one in my other post is not the one I am questioning here. This one is a beautiful Aru. I'll keep my fingers crossed on this one too.

Thanks again Greg,
Bob

Good luck! The new book will have a more detailed section about follicle development and ovulation with some average timelines as well as the extremes from my own experiences.
Greg Maxwell
Fine Green Tree Pythons
E.Mail

Thanks for the reply Greg, I know your busy with you next book(I can't wait). I knew in your book you never mentioned a pre-ovulation shed which is why I asked. I still think the time line is pretty close for her to be gravid, in addition to the way she is acting and hanging. Never the less, I am going to prepare just in case. Keep your fingers crossed for me. This would be my first clutch and I am so excited I can't stand it. Thanks again

Bob

Chondros do not have a pre-ovulation shed. Ovulation usually takes place 4-6 weeks after follicle swelling and color shifting is noticed. Most females will have a pre egg shed approximately 14-21 days before they lay. Females usually go off feed once they are developing mature follicles, and stay off until after the eggs are laid.
Greg Maxwell
Fine Green Tree Pythons
<a...
